Redevelopment of Meadway precinct in Tilehurst has got the unanimous go-ahead from councillors.
Reading Borough Council’s planning applications committee supported the outline application put forward by owner Chillingham to demolish and rebuild much of the 1960s precinct and add 258 homes at its October 6 meeting.
Chair of the committee Cllr Jo Lovelock said: “This precinct is so in need of an upgrade. It has been looking sad and tired for a very long time and I welcome it.
“I hope the applicants will actually, this time, build it out. They had an agreement before to a planning application which never saw any action and I hope this time that they do the upgrade, which is so needed in this area.”
