It has been reported that Sadiq Kahn, the Mayor of London, has confirmed that the next steps for the West London Orbital are underway.

The engineering design work will determine the project’s cost is being undertaken by Mott Mcdonald, the company that worked on the Elizabeth Line.

The design work is being funded by the West London Alliance, a partnership between the boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.

The proposals will link Hounslow to West Hampstead via Old Oak Common. The line will run through many areas that are economic opportunities in the London Plan and link to several sports and entertainment venues.

Councillors who attended the recent London West round table in Hounslow welcomed the development with much of the line already in Hounslow.

The work will likely commence in the next decade.
