The Hounslow Planning Committee has approved the redevelopment of the Burlington Lane site, paving the way for a ten-storey tower.

Despite some controversy and a brief suspension of the meeting due to audience disruption, the committee voted thirteen to one in favour. The decision acknowledges potential harm but emphasises benefits such as high-quality homes and social provisions.

The redevelopment will transform a derelict five-storey office building into a mixed-use development featuring 132 self-contained flats, a terrace of three-storey properties, and flexible commercial spaces. The project includes associated car parking, private and communal amenities, landscaping, and public realm improvements.

Located at the junction of Burlington Lane and Hogarth Road, the site will offer modern residential accommodation adhering to London Plan space standards, contributing significantly to local and strategic housing targets. The development aims to redefine the character of this prominent site, potentially inspiring similar projects in Hounslow. It promises high architectural quality and design, creating an exemplary development on a visually prominent corner.

Additionally, the project will deliver over 1,000 sqm of employment-generating commercial floorspace, potentially including a shop or café, significantly increasing job opportunities and serving both the existing community and new residents.

This redevelopment is set to enhance the area’s housing stock and provide high standards of residential and communal amenities, including co-working spaces for residents, thus strengthening the local community and economy.
