AEW has declined to comment on its reported £21 million acquisition of 14 properties between Broad Street and Friar Street in Reading.

CoStar News has reported that the investor has bought the site, which we first reported on in December 2019, from Columbia Threadneedle which had visions to redevelop the land which could involve adding around 150 homes and creating a pedestrian link through the site to connect it to Station Hill.

Retail units at the Broad Street end include Pret a Manger, Superdrug, Nationwide Building Society, Hotter Shoes, JD Sports and Schuh.

A link to a video explaining Columbia Threadneedle’s proposal can be found on our previous story.
