Ealing planning has approved the proposal by the London Borough of Ealing Housing Department for the construction of three buildings ranging from four to twenty storeys on the Steyne Road Estate, Acton.

The proposal included the construction of a new road, a new undercroft car park and landscaping.

The largest tower will contain much-needed affordable housing, the second tower of eight storeys will be targeted at elderly living, and the final block of four storeys will be for families.

The new building will be built on sloping land adjacent to the two existing towers of 22 storeys each.

Several landscaped areas have been identified and designed to integrate into the site with the surrounding urban realm to provide an attractive open space which creates a well-connected public domain. Several private and communal amenity spaces are provided in addition to the play spaces, which will provide areas for kickabouts, frisbee, trampolines, scooter play features, table tennis, etc. The active frontages and outdoor amenity spaces integrate with the existing public realm creating passive surveillance of the outdoor spaces.
