Barratt London, in partnership with North Harrow Community Library, has revitalised the children’s section of the library, creating a vibrant and inspiring space for young readers.

This renovation marks a significant milestone for the community, following the library’s closure due to funding cuts. The project was celebrated with an official opening by the Mayor of the London Borough of Harrow, Councillor Anjana Patel, who praised the collaborative effort and its positive impact on local families.

The renovation involved Barratt London’s construction team, the London Borough of Harrow, and library volunteers. It included new bookshelves, flooring, and a comfortable seating area for reading and group activities. Volunteers also painted the area in bright, warm colours to create an inviting environment.

Since reopening in 2018 as a community-run library, managed by the North Harrow Community Library Trust, the library has provided essential access to books and educational programs. Kamal Shah, Chair of Trustees, expressed gratitude to Barratt London for their dedication to the refurbishment, emphasising its importance in fostering early literacy skills and a love of reading.

Danny Farenden, projects director at Barratt London, stated: “We are delighted to have supported North Harrow Community Library with this meaningful renovation, allowing them to continue the great work they are doing under the Trust. Community spaces like this are vital for local families and it’s been a privilege to create a space that encourages learning and creativity for young readers.”

Barratt London is also involved in the Eastman Village development, a joint venture with Hyde Group, transforming the former Kodak Factory site into a modern residential area with over 2,000 homes. This development is part of a larger £1.75bn improvement scheme in Harrow, which includes new schools, jobs, and community amenities, enhancing the area’s property landscape.
