The former Central Pool site in Reading is likely to become a place for adult social care and affordable housing.

Reading Borough Council has consulted on its proposals for a zero carbon development of:

  • An older persons’ day centre
  • Sheltered housing for over 55s
  • Supported living flats with support spaces
  • General needs affordable housing and flats

The initial public consultation period ended on June 3, but there will be more once the planning application is submitted, which the council expects to be in Autumn.

The former Central Pool was demolished in 2018. New pools to replace them will be at Rivermead Leisure Centre and Palmer Park.
