Fastned and Places for London have opened their first ultra-rapid EV charging hub at Hatton Cross Underground station, marking the start of a wider rollout of charging infrastructure across the capital.

The site is open 24/7, runs entirely on renewable energy, and features 12 ultra-rapid 400kW charging bays. Its location near Heathrow Airport, the M25, the M4 and the A30 makes it especially useful for commuters, taxi and private hire drivers, local residents and business fleets.

The launch drew attendance from Seb Dance, Mete Coban, Andy Lord, Michiel Langezaal and Tom Hurst, and showcased London’s growing shift to electric transport with a zero-emission-capable black cab, an ambulance, and a TfL van on display. To celebrate the opening, drivers can use the hub for free from Monday, 15 June to Friday, 19 June 2026.

Tom Hurst described the opening as a landmark moment for the partnership and a major step in powering up the capital where it matters most. The Hatton Cross hub is the first of 25 planned locations across London, supporting the Mayor’s ambition to reach up to 40,000 charge points by 2030.

The facility has been designed with accessibility and user comfort in mind. Features include extra-wide bays, two fully accessible charging spaces, weather-protected yellow solar canopies, CCTV and 24/7 multilingual customer support. Together, these elements are intended to make EV charging easier, safer and more reliable for all users.
