The Hampton Court Station development, also known as the Jolly Boatman site, will have its consultation period ending June 12, 2024.

The proposal for 97 apartments, an 84-bedroom hotel, retail units, and riverside landscaping was initially refused by Elmbridge Council on July 19, 2021. The Public Inquiry resulted in the approval by the planning inspector on July 8, 2022. The site has been derelict for many years.

The developers are Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd and Alexpo (IOM) Ltd.

Subsequently, the approval has been referred to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport because senior ministerial approval is required for all buildings within half a mile of Hampton Court.

The Secretary of State, Lucy Fraser, has embarked on a consultation seeking additional information to that gathered by the planning inspector.

It is not clear when the decision will be made, as the current Secretary of State will no longer be an MP  due to the dissolution of parliament, which takes place on May 30, 2024.
