Hillingdon Council has launched a 10-year Growth Plan, Hillingdon Our Vision for Growth, to strengthen the borough’s economy and ensure more residents share in its benefits.
The plan sets a long-term ambition for Hillingdon to act as a global gateway that creates local opportunity, drawing on its transport links, business base, education network and green spaces to support inclusive, sustainable growth.
By 2036, the council wants Hillingdon to be a place people choose to live, work and invest, with a resilient, inclusive and proud economy. To deliver that vision, the plan is built around three priorities: innovating through support for high-growth sectors and business partnerships; connecting people to jobs and opportunity through better transport and skills alignment; and helping the borough thrive by investing in town centres, homes, infrastructure and environmental assets.
The strategy also highlights four key areas for targeted regeneration: Uxbridge and Brunel Quarter, Hayes, Stockley Park and the Old Vinyl Factory, the Heathrow Economic Activity Zone, and north of the A40. These locations are intended to anchor borough-wide growth and spread investment more evenly.
A new Growth Board will be created to coordinate work across housing, planning, transport, skills and economic development. Council leaders and partners say the plan is designed to deliver better jobs, stronger high streets and more opportunities for local people.
“We want growth to work for local people – whether that’s better jobs, thriving high streets or places you’re proud to live in.”
