A date has been set for councillors in Basingstoke to reconsider their decision to adopt a masterplan for the town’s leisure park.

Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council’s scrutiny committee decided on February 14 to send the original decision to adopt the JLL, BDP and council masterplan, taken in January, back for reconsideration.

Now the cabinet will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, February 28.

The major concern of councillors on the scrutiny committee was communication and engagement between councillors and residents in the initial decision to adopt the masterplan.

A report to the February 28 meeting states: “There was a view of some of the scrutiny committee, that although there had been a Members Advisory Panel (MAP) to assist the cabinet member it seemed that there was still a sense of disengagement and lack of inclusion in the decision-making. There was reference to some members of the MAP feeling that they had not been included or listened to.”
