Jansons Property’s proposals for 43 homes and a Lidl store at Lower Earley go before councillors on Wednesday (December 8).

But officers for Wokingham Borough Council have recommended refusal for the scheme on 2.3 hectares near the roundabout between Lower Earley Way and Meldreth Way. Reasons include the impact on the character of the area, on the trees and landscaping and on local residents.

Homes in the proposed development are a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses and one and two bedroom flats. Forty per cent will be affordable.

A total of 358 objection letters were submitted from 213 addresses and there were 57 letters of support.
