Outline plans for 669 homes at the Kingsgrove development at Crab Hill in Wantage have been approved.

The 1,500-home scheme won outline approval in 2015 and 865 of them have since gained detailed consent. The scheme has been under construction since 2018 and its primary school opened in 2020.

However, before seeking detailed consent for the remaining 635, joint applicants St Modwen and Bare Trustees wanted to add 34 homes and made a new application for outline consent for the expanded final phase.

The additional 34 will have a 35 per cent proportion of affordable homes while the previously approved developments had 32 per cent.

Vale of White Horse District Council’s planning committee approved the plans at its May 30 meeting.

Cllr Cheryl Briggs said: “It looks like a really good development and I’m also happy that there’s a large number – 35 per cent – of affordable housing, which is what we really need.”
