Many more people are getting involved in public consultations now they have moved into the digital world, according to Thames Tap partner DevComms.
The specialist engagement firm, based in Thame, gave an example of a recent virtual event using its Consult With You software, during the latest UK Prop Social Ask the Expert video, available to members.
DevComms managing director Rob Allaway said the online consultation for a scheme for 1,000 homes in Essex, attracted around 4,500 virtual visitors.
Mr Allaway said: “It’s probably five to 10 times the number of people you would expect to actually come out to a physical town hall.
“And that did give us a lot of feedback and it was more measured and balanced feedback than you would normally get.”
He said there was also a slightly different demographic among those attending online.
