Plans for a new supermarket with drive-thru restaurant near Stoke Mandeville have been submitted to Buckinghamshire Council.
Grenville Commercial has applied for permission for the store of up to 1,850 sq m and a drive thru of up to 196 sq m on agricultural land, 600 metres north of the town centre, 3km from the centre of Aylesbury, a site which sits among a number of major developments.
The land, just 250 metres from the HS2 rail line project, is west of B4443 Lower Road and immediately south of the site of the consented South East Aylesbury Link Road (SEALR) Phase 2, a major road scheme which is currently under construction.
In addition, around 5,400 homes are allocated in the area in the period up to 2033.
Planning documents state no operators have been confirmed for the supermarket and drive-thru but information from Lidl and Costa have been used in the application.
The team on the project includes Edgars on planning, IMA Architects on design and PFA Consulting on transport planning.

For heaven’s sake, why! Our priority lies in the infrastructure of this town, not adding more buildings to it.
We need a proper taxi/bus service that doesn’t stop for prayers. I tried to get a taxi, and could I get one in a certain day because of an Islamic holiday… And the buses stop at the bus stop and I can’t see around them to come out of my road because it’s Friday.
This town is a joke and I just feel like boycotting the council tax …
