WH Smith has applied to build up to 228 homes at the site of a distribution centre in Swindon.

The retailer has submitted plans to Swindon Borough Council to redevelop its warehouse and offices at Greenbridge Road to the east of the town centre.

The 6.08-hectare site, part of a wider industrial area, is made up of the warehouse along with offices which have become dated and WH Smith plans to relocate its operation.

The scheme, planned by Geraldeve, is the second phase of redevelopment for WH Smith which has been based there for around 40 years.

WH Smith was given outline permission for 134 homes on land to the south west of the site in 2017 and reserved matters permission in March 2020. That site is about to be redeveloped.
