Bicester Motion has begun consultation for the Experience Quarter, a section of the former airfield intended to help it become a major tourist attraction.

An outline planning application is due to be submitted to Cherwell District Council in January. It will have a focus on automotive, aviation and cycling activity.

The Experience Quarter is one of four areas, alongside heritage, innovation and wilderness quarters, which will form the basis of Bicester Motion.

Marketing manager Philip White said: “The Experience Quarter offers a landmark opportunity for Bicester to become a world leading destination to celebrate the past, present and future of automotive and aviation culture.

“This will not only secure a sustainable future for our historic site but it will promote significant social and economic growth for the future.

“In addition, it will create new skilled employment and activities which will benefit the community and provide as all with a place to be proud of.”
