Demolition at the former Allder’s building and nearby derelict properties on Camberley’s London Road development site has been successfully completed.
The 11-month project involved the safe removal of asbestos and the demolition of several buildings in a challenging town-centre setting.
Councillor Kel Finan-Cooke praised contractor Collard Group for delivering the work safely, on schedule and to a high standard, noting that clearing the site makes it more attractive to developers and supports plans to regenerate Camberley town centre.
Collard Group reported an excellent safety record, with no site accidents and strong audit results from the National Federation of Demolition Contractors. Sustainability was also central to the project: all demolition materials were recycled, and the firm will donate £455 to the British Heart Foundation from scrap metal sales.
The company also supported the community by sponsoring Surrey Heath Borough Council’s Careers Fair. The demolition was funded through the Government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund, which helps councils unlock brownfield sites for development and new homes.
Collard Group founder Robert Collard said the company was pleased to contribute to Camberley’s redevelopment and to support young people and local charity efforts.
