Charles Church has been given the green light to deliver its first parcel of new homes at Ashton Park; the new community being brought forward to the south of Trowbridge.

Reserved matters approval has been granted for 35 high-quality new homes, alongside associated landscaping and infrastructure, marking another important milestone in the delivery of the wider Ashton Park development.

The latest approval follows the recent granting of reserved matters consent for Persimmon to deliver the first 161 homes at Ashton Park, and will allow construction to begin on the first Charles Church parcel at the site.

The wider Ashton Park scheme will deliver up to 2,500 new homes, following the granting of outline planning consent last year to Persimmon Homes and Barratt Redrow, who are bringing the site forward as a joint venture.

Once complete, the long-term scheme will have delivered £25.6 million in capital contributions from developers, alongside a £7.5m Community Infrastructure Levy contribution for local projects. It will also deliver a £36.5m relief road, including a new section of the A350, helping to bypass the existing West Ashton crossroads.

The development’s long-term vision is to create a new community, with plans including new schools, early years facilities, local centres, an ecology visitor centre, and employment land.

The approved Charles Church parcel will add further choice for local buyers at Ashton Park, sitting alongside the first Persimmon phase already granted consent. Persimmon has a strong presence in Wiltshire, with active developments in Chippenham, Warminster and nearby Hilperton.

Seb Spiller, managing director at Charles Church Wessex, said:

“We are very pleased to have secured reserved matters approval for our first Charles Church parcel at Ashton Park.

“This latest approval follows the recent consent for our first Persimmon phase, and reflects the strong progress being made as we bring forward this important new community.

“The Charles Church homes will provide further choice for local buyers and support the opening of another outlet at Ashton Park, while maintaining the high standards of design and quality people expect from the brand.

“Ashton Park is a hugely significant project for Trowbridge and the wider area. Alongside much-needed new homes, the development will deliver major investment in infrastructure, public services, community amenities and local jobs.

“We look forward to getting started on this latest phase and continuing to play our part in delivering a positive and lasting legacy for the town.”
