Plans for 176 homes at Feltham have been approved by councillors in Hounslow.

Lampton 360, a wholly-owned subsidiary of of the authority, and EcoWorld want to develop a former railway car park for the scheme which was approved at the London Borough of Hounslow’s planning committee’s June 10 meeting.

The site, known as New Road Triangle, borders the River Longford and the New Road Industrial Estate. Although designated as open land in the Local Plan, it falls within the Feltham Housing Zone.

There will be 92 homes for sale on the open market and 84 affordable properties which the council will own, manage and let. Sixty-six of them  (79 per cent) will be at London Affordable Rent, and 18 (21 per cent) will be at shared ownership.

The open market homes will be primarily one bedroom and two bedroom properties, while the affordable homes will include more two and three bedroom units.

Council leader Cllr Steve Curran, welcomed the scheme. He said: “This is very much a ‘For Hounslow, By Hounslow’ development, which helps us keep so many of the pledges we have made. This creates more council homes at affordable, council rents in an ambitious, forward-looking, environmentally future-proofed development.

“That it is being delivered by some of the council’s closest partners means we maximise the Hounslow pound, deliver high-quality council housing and bring real benefits to that part of the borough economically and environmentally. It will be a development to be very proud of.”
