50-home scheme could be part of bigger development

Solihull-based developer Terra Strategic, has submitted plans for 50 homes (15 of them affordable) on the outskirts of Melksham in West Wiltshire.

The application lodged to Wiltshire Council is to develop a 2.26-hectare agricultural site, bounded by Semington Road and the A350 Western Way and includes an access route to a potential second phase.

Banners Gate is the architect, with planning by Tetlow King and environmental consultancy by ACD Environmental.

James O’Shea, managing director of Terra Strategic, said: “We are excited about the opportunity to create a quality family orientated development in this popular, sustainable town centre location.

“It’s been identified that 2,240 new homes are required for the town of Melksham by 2026, along with an immediate requirement for around 200 affordable homes as set out in the wider Melksham housing register.

“Delivering this scheme will add significant value to the immediate area, with 50 high quality new homes designed around extensive landscaping and children’s play facilities. We look forward to working alongside officers and consultees while the application is being considered.”

A total of 42,000 new homes are required across Wiltshire by 2026 and Melksham has been earmarked as a key growth spot.
