Consultation has begun over plans by Oxford City Council for 61 homes in Littlemore.

The council wants to build 51 flats (all affordable homes) at the disused Northfield Hostel site off Sandy Lane and 10 houses on the adjacent sports field which will be for market sale.

The council is aiming for carbon emissions 70 per cent below current building regulations on the scheme by using airtight insulation and solar panels.

Consultation questionnaire packs have been posted directly to homes and businesses close to the site.

The project team is holding a Zoom Q&A session on Wednesday August 12 at 6pm.

The council expects to submit a planning application in Autumn with a hoped-for start on site in Spring 2022.

Cllr Alex Hollingsworth, cabinet member for planning and housing delivery, said: “Oxford needs homes and Northfield Hostel will allow us to build 61 new homes, including 51 homes let at social rent or in other affordable tenures.

“We’re investing in the future of our city by building homes that are cutting edge and sustainable as well as affordable, and this development is part of that future.”

The consultation runs until August 20.
